| Nick Hughes is the Chairman and founder’s representative to the board of M-KOPA LLC. Nick is a founder of M-KOPA and was previously Managing Director of Signal Point Partners, the advisory and venture firm that started M-KOPA. Until 2009, Nick was Head of Global Payments at Vodafone Group, where he started M-PESA in 2004. Prior to joining Vodafone in 2001 Nick headed BP’s climate change program. Nick has a PhD in Applied Science, an MBA from London Business School, and was the recipient of an Economist Innovation Award in 2010.
Arun Gore is the investors representative to the board of M-KOPA LLC. Arun is President and CEO of Gray Ghost Ventures, based in Atlanta, USA. Arun brings an extensive background in mobile telecommunications, finance and operations. His 30 years of experience in the USA and India, which includes serving as a member of the executive team at T-Mobile USA as the CFO of Cook Inlet T-Mobile, has been valuable in underwriting the investment opportunities and working with the entrepreneurs of Gray Ghost Ventures’ portfolio companies. Arun is a native of Chennai, India and holds a BSc in sciences, a BS in Accounting and an MBA in Finance. Les Baillie is the independent board member of M-KOPA LLC. Les was the CFO of Safaricom Limited from the company’s inception in 2000 until its IPO on the Kenyan stock exchange in 2008. He then served as Chief Investor Relations Officer from 2009-2011, and continues to serve Safaricom on a part time basis as Chairman of the Safaricom Foundation. Les is also a board member for Standard Chartered Bank of Kenya. He is a UK national and a resident of Kenya.
